Our little girl is growing up

I was privileged to get to spend some quality time with Kira yesterday while Susie ran some errands. Of course I had some "important" computer projects going so I was a bit distracted at times while Kira ran around the house. I was really into some technical computer stuff when I realized that Kira had been quiet for a little while, so I went to investigate.

I found Kira in our bedroom with something smeared on her cheek and lips and she was sitting next to a box of some of Susie's Mary Kay makeup that she sells. I quickly realized that Kira had sifted through the box of makeup and found a tube of lipstick in which she got open and then attempted to apply to her lips and cheek; perhaps eating some of it in the process.

I think her makeup application technique needs a little practice but it was still cute. Of course I had to get the camera out and capture the moment. Hopefully we can remember that is lipstick on her face and not chocolate.







I would also like to add a little extra note here that is off the topic. I've been bugging Susie to blog since this is supposed to be a team effort but she only seems to be interested in writing comments on other peoples' blogs. If you would like to hear about our lives from her perspective, I would encourage you to leave a comment and let her know.

Kira's Favorite Shoes

It seems as though Kira has picked a favorite pair of shoes. They are shoes that Nana bought for her and she will pick them over all of her other shoes and have us put them on her feet. Then she has fun tapping around on the wood floor with them.

Labor Day Weekend Camping

We were privileged to be able to go camping again over Labor Day weekend. We went with our friends Mark and Polly who reserved a very remote location near the Colorado/Wyoming border. The camping spot was on top of a ridge and we had a beautiful view just a few steps away.



Kira and Benny came along with us and Mark and Polly brought their dog Max. Kira had fun playing with her toys that we brought along with us until she discover how much fun it was to play with dirt. I think she got at least two baths in the sink of the camper.





Mark was in charge of gathering firewood. He did a great job with the help of our friend Chris' chainsaw that he borrowed. After the logs were all sawed up he chopped that wood like a pro.



Mark and I took our mountain bikes and enjoyed a couple of good rides exploring some back wood trails. At the same time Susie, Polly, Kira, Max, and Benny took a couple of hikes. It was overall a fun and relaxing weekend.

I must also mention that our other camping buddies Chris and Emily sadly weren't able to make the trip. They had prior weekend obligations in Kansas. Hopefully we'll all get to go again one more time before the season is over.

Where's Bubba?

Bubba is our kitty that might not be around much longer because he has a pee pee problem. Kira loves to say his name and try to pet him. Here's a cute video of Kira looking for Bubba.
