Thanksgiving Break

The Monday before Thanksgiving I only had three kids so they joined Dad and I for his ct scan at the hospital and then got him on over to his Neuro surgeon for a last check up. Next we said our goodbyes and dropped him off at a shuttle to take him to the airport. Thanks to a slower week I felt it perfect timing to decorate for Christmas: ) I do miss my dad but we needed to get kids so they joined Dad and I for his ct scan at the hospital and got him on over to his Neuro surgeon for a last check up. Thanks to a slower week I felt it perfect timing to decorate for Christmas: ) I do miss my dad but we needed to get back to our routine.

We got our first snow that week, it was beautiful! I made a little snowman with the boys while Kira napped. A bit later Benny decided to eat the snowman's head off once he smelled the carrot and my dad's nasty prunes. Poor Frosty, hopefully we'll have many more!



Normally with six kids we just stay in our neighborhood but with only three- we got to take a field trip to Walker Mowers to visit Bart. We got to bring a little treat we baked for the guys in Bart's department... they are always so appreciative! The kids diligently wore their safety glasses and walked through the entire factory. They love to play on the Time-line of inventions of Grandpa Walker and his sons.





Thanksgiving was also Bart's 30th Birthday! He was spared much harassment from our friends since everyone was out of town. It was plenty embarrassing to have all of the relatives sing to him at Grandma and Grandpa Walker's. Kira has lots of second cousins there to play with... she can't wait for all the holiday gatherings just to be with them!

canned salsa?

Before Susie's dad left to go home to Indiana he helped Susie can some salsa using here tomatoes from her garden and some peppers from Ted's garden. The final product turned out ok but we both agreed that the recipe could use some alterations for the next time (if there's a next time). The biggest alteration would be to use regular white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar which her dad insisted in using.
