Decided to pull the daycare parents in and help give Christmas to a family nominated by a local school. The neatest surprise was the reality that the mom of the family works where I once worked as a Social Worker: ) Knowing she is surrounded by some of my favorite people warmed my heart over and encouraged me that they are pulling for her and her family as well!
The kids had known about the Wells family for weeks and were praying for them and getting psyched to have a their Jesus B-Day party at the Wells home this year. Many of us were struck to tears knowing all this couple asked for Christmas was laundry soap and groceries.... still makes me tear up.
My Mom and Dad were here to help with everything and my Mom kept me organized. One of the dad's, Dave ordered pizzas for the family to enjoy before we arrived: ) Between all the parents we brought a huge turkey, a big box clothes, a computer from Bart, our foosball table, new hoodies for the five kids, cards and pictures, munchies, laundry supplies, and a giftcard to Walmart for groceries. We were warmly greeted and even got to hear one of the boys and his Dad "jam," they were amazing! The Dad and oldest boy need jobs and we gave them some ideas and are hoping for a miracle and both to be working! Kira got everyone to sing her favorites- Happy Birthday Jesus and Away in a Manger!
