Memorial Day (by Susie)

Times were great this weekend! I wish we had more long weekends during the year! Kira has changed so much even weekly as I look back. I got to sneak away to my community garden plot several times this weekend to plant and weed... it was therapeutic. I am nervous my seeds would germinate but at least I'm trying. Yesterday I put up a bean tee-pee while the kids dug in the dirt. I figure my other set of bamboo poles can be strictly for the kids. Kira seems to love playing in the dirt too, I'm setting aside a patch of the plot for her and the others to dig in. I will have some photos on as things start to grow.

Our Memorial Day was perfect. We got to do a 5K as a family raising money for those who deal with Bone Marrow problems. It was very peaceful along the Poudre River. Kira dearest slept through half of it holding tightly to the string of her balloon. She was in her element petting local ducklings, calves, alpaca, lambs, and goats. One lady watching said she should be pictured in the newspaper. : ) It was a circus theme- "the greatest gift of life." We enjoyed hot dogs, popcorn, root beer, and COTTON CANDY! And most importantly, Bart and I signed up to be marrow doner's.

Looks awesome! I'm going to start training for a 5K too! I'm not sure which one yet but I just want to be able to run that far!
